Had to make a column 18" X 8 foot so I made sure it had
plenty of
capacity. Took 3 hours to cut and assemble, an hour to turn, 3 hours to
sand and 1 day to build the lathe. What a beast! with the speed
reducer on the Shopsmith head I can turn 30 rpm (comfortable) and up to
200 rpm (butt cheek squeezing) speed. AKA "the pucker factor"
